The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) – funded Food and Nutrition Technical Assistance III Project (FANTA), which is managed by FHI 360 has been engaged, in collaboration with the government of Uganda, in improving nutrition advocacy in support of the Uganda Nutrition Action Plan (UNAP). This included: leading the development of the advocacy component of the Nutrition Advocacy and Communication Strategy for the UNAP, launched in October 2015; advocacy training at national and district levels; developing of multi-sectoral nutrition advocacy materials using evidence-based data and distribution of the advocacy materials to key policy and decision makers.
Due to the recent 2016 national elections, new leaders have taken up offices at national and local levels. This creates an opportunity to promote investment in nutrition as a means of supporting Uganda’s health and socio-economic development. In addition to this FANTA notices a need to provide technical assistance and support to the Office of the Prime Minister in the implementation of the advocacy and communication strategy, including identifying and working with a select group of nutrition champions.
FANTA is searching for a consultant to support the implementation of Nutrition Advocacy activities in collaboration with the USAID implementing partners (Advocacy for Better Health, Communication for Healthy Communities) and Civil Society Organisations (UGAN Society, UCCO-SUN, WV-U) at national levels and in the ten districts implementing the District Nutrition Coordination Committee (DNCC) initiative.
