Supporting student community engagement falls within the UGAN’s broad aim of engaging young nutrition professionals in the nutrition arena and also linking students to the large community of nutrition practice. This is broadly embedded in the UGAN’s Strategic Development Plan (SDP) of 2014-2019.
On that note, the Uganda Action for Nutrition (UGAN) Society sought support from the USAID-funded Food and Nutrition Technical Assistance (FANTA) Project, Kyambogo University, Makerere University and Victoria University to support nutrition students of the respective universities to organise community awareness nutrition activities. The joint nutrition students’ camp was organised and held from the 15th to 17th October, 2015 at the Uganda Railway Grounds, Kampala. A total of 20 students participated in the different nutrition camp activities per day. This camp was organised to coincide with the World Food Day celebrations of 2015.
Nutrition assessment was one of the activities carried out, results were recorded, tabulated and later analysed. Read the report for further details.
